Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data NOOR collects about you and your child, why, whom we share it with, and the rights you have.

Effective Date: April 22, 2026

1Introduction

NOOR Technologies("NOOR," "we," "us," or "our") is a Canadian company headquartered in Thorold, Ontario, Canada, with operations in Qatar through a Qatar Financial Centre (QFC)-registered entity incubated at Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP). We build and operate the NOOR app and website (the "Service"), a gamified Qur'anic recitation platform designed for children ages 5 to 14 and their parents or guardians.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when a parent or guardian ("you") registers for NOOR, what we collect about the child ("the Child") whose profile you create, how we use and share that data, how long we keep it, and the rights you and the Child have under applicable privacy laws.

By registering for or using the Service you confirm that you have read this policy and, if you are registering on behalf of a child, that you consent to the practices described here on the child's behalf.

2Scope and Key Terms

"Parent"means an adult aged 18 or older who registers for the Service and creates the child's profile.

"Child" means any person under 18 whose profile is created by a Parent inside the Service.

"Personal Data" means information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to a parent or child.

"Sub-processors" are third-party vendors we engage to process Personal Data on our behalf under written contract.

3Information We Collect

3.1 From the Parent (Account Holder)

  • Name, email address, and a hashed password (or a login token from Apple or Google when you sign in with those providers).
  • Optional profile picture.
  • Billing information when you purchase a subscription. Full card numbers are handled directly by Stripe, Apple, or Google. NOOR stores only the last four digits, card brand, billing country, and subscription status.
  • Support and feedback messages you send us.

3.2 About the Child (Profile)

  • A first name or chosen display name.
  • Year of birth or age band (used only to adapt difficulty and content).
  • Chosen avatar or optional profile picture you select.
  • Learning preferences you set for the child.

We do notask for the child's last name, home address, phone number, school, or any other identifying contact information.

3.3 Voice and Audio Data

NOOR's core feature is real-time Qur'anic recitation feedback. When the child recites, the app captures short audio segments and sends them to a speech-recognition service that returns transcription and pronunciation feedback.

  • Audio is streamed over an encrypted connection.
  • Audio is used only to generate pronunciation feedback for the child's session.
  • We do not use audio for advertising, profiling, biometric identification, or voice-print creation, and we do not sell it.

3.4 Learning and Usage Data

  • Recitation accuracy, mistakes, time on task, study streaks.
  • Lessons completed, achievements earned, in-app events (screen views, button taps) needed for analytics and debugging.

3.5 Device and Technical Data

  • Device model, operating system and version, language, time zone.
  • IP address (used for security, country-level geolocation, and fraud prevention; truncated or discarded where not needed).
  • Crash reports and performance metrics.
  • A pseudonymous installation identifier used to link sessions belonging to the same device.

3.6 Payment Data

Payments are processed directly by Stripe (web), the Apple App Store (iOS), or Google Play (Android). NOOR does not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or full bank details. We receive only the transaction confirmation, subscription status, last four digits of the payment method, and billing country.

4How We Use Information

We use Personal Data to:

  • run the Service (create profiles, track progress, return pronunciation feedback);
  • keep the Service secure and debug problems;
  • contact the Parent about billing, support, and important account notices;
  • improve the Service using aggregated, non-identifying information;
  • meet our legal obligations;
  • send you optional marketing if you have opted in. You can opt out at any time.

We do not use the child's Personal Data for behavioural advertising or third-party ad targeting, and we do not sell it.

5Who We Share Information With

NOOR does not sell Personal Data and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar US state privacy laws.

We share Personal Data only with the following categories of recipients, under written contract or legal obligation:

Categories of Recipients

  • Cloud hosting and database providers that store your account and learning data on our behalf.
  • Payment processors and app-store operators (for example, the provider that handles your web, iOS, or Android subscription).
  • Speech-recognition service that transcribes recitation audio so the app can return feedback.
  • Analytics and crash-reporting providers used in a pseudonymous or aggregated form to keep the app reliable.
  • Email and messaging providers used to send you receipts, security notices, and support replies.

We work only with providers bound by written contracts that restrict them to using Personal Data for the purposes we direct. If you would like the list of specific providers we use today, email m@noor.vip.

Other Recipients

  • Legal and safety: courts, regulators, or law-enforcement agencies where legally compelled, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of NOOR, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, Personal Data may transfer to the successor entity. We will notify affected users and the successor will be bound by a privacy policy no less protective than this one.
  • With your direction: if you explicitly ask us to share with a third party.

6How We Handle Children's Data

NOOR is a product for children used under parental supervision. This section describes what we do; it is not a legal opinion on any particular privacy statute.

  • Only an adult Parent or guardian (age 18 or older) may register and create a child profile. By registering, you confirm you have the authority to consent on the child's behalf.
  • We ask the Parent to confirm consent before the child starts using the app. For paid subscriptions this confirmation happens through the payment step (which requires a matching adult payment method). For free accounts we confirm the Parent's email before enabling features that collect more than the minimum necessary to run the app.
  • We collect from the child only what is needed to run the learning experience: a display name, age band, avatar, and learning activity (see Section 3). We do not ask children for their last name, home address, phone number, school, or friends.
  • A Parent can, at any time, review the child's data, stop further collection, or request deletion from in-app Parent Settings, through our account deletion page, or by emailing m@noor.vip.
  • We do not show the child behavioural advertising, we do not use the child's data to train third-party AI models, and we do not sell or rent children's data.
  • Children's data is shared only with the categories of recipients listed in Section 5 and only for the purposes described in this policy.

If the law of the country where the child lives gives additional protection (for example, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Quebec, or Qatar), those protections apply to us when we serve users there, and you can exercise any rights your local law gives you by contacting us at m@noor.vip.

7Regional Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, your local law may give you additional rights, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, to object to certain processing, or to complain to a local regulator. Those rights apply when you use NOOR. To exercise them, email m@noor.vip and tell us where you live and what you want to do.

8How Long We Keep Data

We keep Personal Data for as long as we need it to provide the Service and to meet our legal obligations. When you delete your account we delete the associated data, except for records we are required by law to keep (such as transaction records).

9International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, including Canada, Qatar, and countries where our service providers operate. We take the steps required by the law that applies to you when data moves between countries.

10Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect Personal Data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data we will notify you and the relevant authorities as and when the law requires.

11Your Choices

You (or the Parent on behalf of the Child) can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. To do so, email m@noor.vip from the Parent email on file, or use the in-app controls under Settings → Account. For requests concerning a child, we verify identity by matching the Parent email on file. We will respond in the time and manner required by the law that applies to you.

12How to Delete the Account

You can delete your account from in-app Settings → Account, or by emailing m@noor.vip from the Parent email on file. Once deletion is confirmed we remove the account and linked learning data, keeping only the records we are required by law to keep.

13No Sale, No Share, No Targeted Advertising

NOOR does not sell Personal Data. We do not share it with third parties for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not target ads to you or your child based on their use of the app. Because we do not engage in these activities, there is no opt-out link to show you.

14Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before taking effect. If a change is material and adverse to your or the child's rights, we will seek renewed consent where required. Continued use after the Effective Date constitutes acceptance.
